ABOUT
North Alabama native Keyton specializes in blending emo melodies, alt-rock hooks, and post-hardcore intensity. Over a career spanning nearly two decades, his sound has evolved dramatically since starting as a solo acoustic touring artist.
His newest release, Trace of Red, builds on the energy of early 2000s emo without relying on nostalgia alone. Inspired by the classic anti-hero song Mack the Knife, it transforms a story of looming danger into a reminder that life can change without warning. The lyrics encourage listeners to appreciate the people and moments that are easy to overlook, while driving guitars and memorable hooks carry the song's emotional weight. Backed by a sound praised for its "angst-filled sonic landscape" and "soulful vocals," Trace of Red pairs alt-rock energy with a message that lingers long after the final chorus.
Keyton remains a standout voice for fans of Fall Out Boy, This Wild Life, A Day To Remember, and the defining sounds of early 2000s emo-rock. His 2023 release featured the work of drummer Atom Willard (Alkaline Trio, Angels and Airwaves), bassist Jack Lawrence (The Raconteurs), Grammy-nominated engineer Bobby Holland, and production talents of singer-songwriter Billy the Kid.
Keyton spent years touring the southeast (most notably 2007-2012) as a solo acoustic artist, opening for such indie greats as The Ataris, St. Paul and the Broken Bones, Fred Mascherino (Taking Back Sunday, Say Anything), Dan Andriano (Alkaline Trio), Matt Pryor (The Get Up Kids), Anthony Raneri (Bayside), and Mike Herrera (MXPX).
